Saarani says all grievances must be brought up at exco meetings.
THE Perak Action Council for Persons with Disabilities has been established as a platform for the disabled to channel suggestions, complaints and grievances.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said issues relating to the welfare and applications for assistance of persons with disabilities (PwD) could be channelled to the action council.
“With the setting up of the council, the government must not take it (the grievances) lightly. What is received must be brought up by the Perak women development, family and community welfare committee at the exco meeting,” he said at a press conference after attending an event with the PwD community at Arena Square in Batu Gajah.
According to Saarani, the state government has elected four council members from the PwD community and experts.
There are eight working committees chaired by members of the Perak government council.
The committees are to oversee universal design and built environment, transport, employment, education, health, registration, talent and potential, and spirituality and human capital.
A council spokesperson said PwD could contact the hotline at 05-526 9829 or get application forms from the Office of the Women’s Development Secretariat in Meru, Ipoh.
Meanwhile, council member Muhammad Danial Azli, 30, said he hoped that the disabled would not be sidelined by the state government and would continue to be helped through the council. – Bernama
