IPOH: Nearly RM1mil worth of drugs were seized during an operation at two houses in Changkat Kruing in Pantai Remis.

Perak police chief Datuk Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid (pic) said the drugs seized included about 9.7kg of methamphetamine and 2g of heroin.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said police also arrested a 56-year-old unemployed man during the raid on July 18 at about 10pm.

“We first found the heroin and 1.16g of methamphetamine at the man’s house.

“Subsequent checks in his car found three plastic packets containing about 2.8kg of methamphetamine,” he told a press conference after attending the state police monthly gathering at the police air unit training base here on Wednesday (July 20).

“Further checks at a nearby house, also belonging to the man, yielded seven more plastic bags containing about 7kg of methamphetamine,” he said, adding that the drugs could be distributed to 100,000 users locally.

“The drugs seized are estimated to be worth about RM970,000,” he added.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the man tested positive for morphine and has been actively pushing drugs for six months.

“He has four previous drug-related criminal cases.

“He will be remanded for seven days until July 25 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence,” he said.
